National Examinations

Since its inception, the school has adopted the national curriculum provided by the government. The currently available curricula are the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). The KCSE curriculum is in the process of being phased out by the government, with the CBC being adopted in its place.

By the end of 2025, there will only be two remaining classes following the KCSE curriculum: the current Form 2 and Form 3. This indicates that the KCSE curriculum will be fully phased out by 2027.

In contrast, the CBC has been in effect for nine years. The first cohort following the CBC will graduate from Grade 12 in 2028.

The KCSE curriculum requires students to take National Secondary Exams after four years of secondary education, while the CBC curriculum requires students to take National Exams after just three years. Students typically start school at six years of age in Grade 1. After completing three years, they take their first national exam in Grade 3. They have another exam in Grade 6 and additional national exams in Grade 9 and Grade 12. This examination structure has been implemented by the government and is currently followed by most schools in the country.
