The Debate Club has started the year with a recent outing at Strathmore University for the Mashujaa 5 tournament.
We had 7 teams, out of these 3 teams managed to break out of the preliminary cups.
Team C (junior Shield Cup) : Austin Muniu, Trevor Karanja and Adrian Gachanja.
Team D ( Senior Bowl Cup) : David Kariuki, Nathan Njuguna, PJ Mutura and Sam Nyang’or
Team G (Main Cup senior): Enock Maina, Murakaru Njuki, Sean Shundi and Curtis Kamotho.
Also, Adrian Kinyanjui and Kwame Kimani (Form 4) were representing Team Kenya (World Schools Debating Championship Kenya) and won the Main Cup despite a preliminary loss to Team G in the preliminaries.
We also won speaker awards.
Sean Shundi (Form 3, team G)-28th best senior speaker.
Nathan Njuguna(Form 3, team D) – 27th best senior speaker.
Adrian Kinyanjui (Form 4, WSDC)- 19th best senior speaker.
Curtis Kamotho (Form 2, team G) : 7th best senior speaker.
Kwame Kimani (Form 4, WSDC): 6th best senior speaker.
Murakaru Njuki (Form 2, team G) : 5th best senior speaker.
To crown it all, Enock Maina emerged the Best Senior Speaker and Best Male speaker in the whole competition.
Special recognition to the Grade Eights, who apparently were the only Grade 8 in the whole competition pitted against Form 2s and Form 3s
