We wish to congratulate the Class of 2021 on the good performance in the KCPE exams released on Monday, 28th March 2022. The class attained a mean of 372.13. Although this was a drop from the mean of 382.27 scored in 2020, the class registered an improvement in three subjects: English from a mean of 80.27 to 83.3; Math from 78.05 to 80.9 and Science from 72.30 to 74.0.

The top student this year is Justus Mamicha. He scored 407 marks. He was followed by Alex Kariuki (403). Enock Maina and Trevor Mwaura tied at 400 marks.

We thank the parents of the class of 2021 for your gallant efforts! Your support to this class, especially during the Covid-19 lock-down is much appreciated.

We wish the candidates the best of luck as they embark on the next level of their education.

Silvano Borruso(1934 – 2022) was among the first members of staff at Strathmore College (later Strathmore School). For 60 years he gave himself tirelessly in the formation of the thousands of the young people who passed through his hands at Strathmore. We can keep his legacy alive by contributing to the SILVANO BORRUSO MEMORIAL FUND to enable bright children from needy backgrounds enjoy an education at Strathmore.

Silvano, one of our founding teachers, peacefully departed this life into God’s presence on 1st January 2022. He not only helped in designing the school grounds but also joined the founding staff when the school opened its doors in 1961.

He selflessly dedicated himself to the formation of generations of students in the school and in the apostolate of Opus Dei on Kenya and East Africa.

Silvano served in various capacities in the school; bursar, mentor and teacher. He taught Biology, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Religion an Ethics. He loved taking care of the environment and wrote many books.

His requiem mass was in school on Saturday 8th January 2022 followed by interment at Lang’ata Cemetry. The mass and interment was streamed live.

Eternal rest grant unto Silvano Borruso Oh God and may perpetual light shine upon him forever. Amen!

We regret to communicate that Msgr. Cormac Burke, our Assistant Chaplain passed on peacefully on 22nd November 2021.

He was the first chaplain of Strathmore School (1978).

He was a former Irish Civil Lawyer and was ordained a priest of the Prelature of Opus Dei in 1955. After 30 years of pastoral work in Africa, United Sates and England, he was appointed a judge of the High Court of the Church, the Roman Rota(1986-1999) during the Pontificate of St. John Paul II.

Upon retirement, he asked to return to Nairobi, Kenya, where he continued to work in the school Chaplaincy, while guiding many other men and women along their path to God.

He was the author of numerous books and articles, and remained an invaluable consultant to the Holy See.

We keep him in our prayers, offering up many hours of study, work and all we do during these days for the repose of his soul.

May he rest in eternal peace.

On 23rd November at the 11.55am and 2.05pm Masses we prayed for Mr. Micheal Pike on the first anniversary of his death.

Mr. Pike arrived in Kenya From Uruguay in 1988 and was a dedicated and loved teacher for all those years.

He passed on last year on the 23rd of November. He is buried in Langata Cemetery. We keep praying for his soul and thanking God for the opportunity of having met him and learned from his life.

After a five year campaign to raise money for their Alma mater, the class of 2000 decided to meet at the school to celebrate and to catch up after 20 years over lunch in the dining hall and an informal get-together in the common room.
Mr. Muthiora thanked them for their generosity and updated them on the good that the fund is doing and will continue to do in the future.
Dr. Vincent Ogutu, who was the deputy principal in the year 2000, spoke as a past student who benefited from a scholarship, He explained how studying in Strathmore changed his life and the life of his family.
Other past teachers who spoke to them were Dr. John Ainsley who encouraged them to continue living the principals they learnt here.  Fr. Joe Babendrier welcomed them to come over for a chat if ever they want priestly attention.
The past students briefly spoke about simple as well as amazing things they are up to and Mr. Muthiora noted that based on the valedictory speech made for their class 20 years ago, at a time when schools were burning, they are keeping their promise to make a difference in the country. They had an enriching discussion that almost ended at sunset.
At the end Collins Ongore, on behalf of the class handed over a dummy cheque of Kshs 1,000,000 to Mr. John Muthiora, this being their contribution to the Strathmore School Endowment Fund.

This year we celebrate our 60th Anniversary. The Math Contest held on 30th October 2021 was an initiative aimed at positively impacting the community around us as we commemorate the Diamond Jubilee.
For many years, Strathmore School has been associated with excellence in academics, especially in mathematics. To share this heritage with the public primary schools in our sub-county(Westlands) we had a boys’ math contest.

The contest was an opportunity to motivate and mentor Standard 8 boys in their final year of school. Teachers also got valuable feedback about the areas that the boys are doing well and the areas they may need to work on as they prepare for KCPE examinations.

Each participating school had to nominate 5 boys and an accompanying teacher. As the boys were tackling math questions, the teachers had a chance to go around the school. The teachers shared teaching experiences and got some insights of how the school operates. After the 2 hour paper the boys had a break and went into a mentoring session by the school Principal Mr. John Muthiora. The principal spoke about The qualities that make a virtuous man. Later after lunch they had a second session by Dr. Jeffery Osoro. Dr. Osoro is the Scholar of the Year 2015 and an alumnus of Nairobi Primary. Dr. Osoro spoke on What it takes to succeed in High School.

At the end of the day prizes were won and attendance certificates issued.
The winning school was Visa Oshwal. They went home with a Trophy, book voucher and contest medals for each participant.
The 1st runner up school was Nairobi Primary School. They went home with a Trophy, book voucher and contest medals for each participant.
The 2nd runner up school was Hospital Hill School. They went home with a Trophy, book voucher and contest medals for each participant.

The winner of the contest was David Nganga from Westlands Primary School. He received a Trophy and certificate of merit.
1st runner up was David Kithinji from Visa Oshwal Primary School. He received a Trophy and certificate of merit.
2nd runner up was Owen Kiptanui from Loresho Primary School. He received a Trophy and certificate of merit.

We hope for the best in KCPE for the schools and the Pupils who participated.
